College Policies

The College has developed a comprehensive set of policies on a number of issues. The general principle for a policy being adopted by the College is that it is based on, and backed up by, well-attested evidence and respected research. Where appropriate, a policy should be supported by acknowledged experts in that field.

The College promotes, where possible, novel ideas and solutions for debate and evaluation and to stimulate discussion. Non-orthodox ideas and solutions should be credible and based on evidence.

Policies are updated regularly as circumstances change, new research is done and as new problems arise. As per a resolution of the 2007 AGM  proposals for new or amended ACRS policy statements are prepared by the Policy Committee and submitted for approval of ACRS members at any time during the year as required. Members will have one calendar month to comment or lodge objection, after which the policy statement comes into effect. All new or amended policy statements will be put on the ACRS web site, with notification of the date of the original approval and subsequent amendments and updates. If no substantive concerns or objections are raised about new or amended policy statements during the one month consultation period, they will be ratified by the National Executive and identified as such on the web site. If there are substantive concerns or objections, these will be dealt with by the Policy Committee and if the policy statement is revised the one month consultation period begins again. In addition, new or amended policies ratified each year will be circulated to memebrs prior to the AGM for their information.
